About

The Host - Josh Sneed

Josh Sneed is quickly making his mark as one of the top young comics in the business, and for the purpose of this bio, has become skilled in the art of writing in the third person. After quitting a comfy day job working for Procter & Gamble, he’s made excellent strides in following his passion for making people laugh. He’s opened for such acts as Dave Chappelle, Mitch Hedberg, and Lewis Black.

Most recently, Josh finished 2nd out of 100 of Comedy Central’s top comedians in the Annual Stand-up Showdown, earning him a deal to record a new album on Comedy Central Records. In 2006, Josh filmed a 30-minute special, “Comedy Central Presents: Josh Sneed” that debuted in March 2007 and is currently re-airing. In November of 2006, Josh placed 6th in the Sierra Mist/MySpace Stand-up or Sit Down Challenge out of over 2,000 entrants. Finishing high in competitions is nothing new to Josh. In 4th grade he earned a blue ribbon for throwing a softball through a tire.

In 2004, he performed at the Just For Laugh's Montreal Comedy Festival in the "New Faces of Comedy" group, one of the highest honors that a comedian at his level can achieve. Josh has also be seen performing in large venue theaters across the country as an opening act for the various members of "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour", and has made several appearances on "The Bob & Tom Show".

The Co-Host - Mark Chalifoux

Mark Chalifoux is an accomplished man of the world. The former radio producer is just beginning what will inevitably be a disappointing stand-up comedy career. Mark is also the MMA writer for the Baltimore Sun and freelances for SI.com and ESPN.com. In an effort to extend his resume, he accepted a position as a contributing editor to the Chalifoux Family Christmas Newsletter in September of 2001 and has flourished in that capacity. Mark enjoys informing young children that Santa isn’t real and can never say no to a funnel cake.

The Show

Detention was started to give Josh Sneed a chance to talk about all of the stuff that he and his comedian friends talk about when not onstage. It's an outlet for frustrations with the business of stand-up comedy, a chance to share fun stories from the road, and debate everything from movies to more movies. At some point, when the show's been around long enough, we'll have more to say "about" it. Until then, just listen, check out the sites we reccommend, and provide us with questions or feedback as to how we can make the show better by emailing us at info@thedetentionshow.com.

Thanks for staying after in Detention.
